BT Operate - Service Assurance Transformation

In LTB 559/08 it was reported that the Executive has made it clear to management that whilst understanding the commercial pressures and competitive reality in that BT is significantly more expensive, there has to be wider holistic solutions for finding alternative work in some sites.

The Union's BT Operate Executive team is pleased to report that with regards to Oswestry, the long-term future of this site has been secured. Some functions in the Signalling area, both International and National will be retained on site as it has been deemed that the skills and experience will be complementary to that required in running the Customer Experience Management Centre.  There will also be a requirement to run this operation on a 24 hour, 7 day a week basis.

Due to the transformation process and the need to learn new skills, there will not be an automatic switch over from one old function to the new.  Further discussions will take place with management on the transition arrangements which are designed to run into 2010.
